In this guide, we’re going to explain how to choose between a desktop vaporizer and a portable vaporizer. So if that’s a decision that you have yet to make, allow us to guide you to the right decision.
When it comes to choosing between the two different types of vaporizers, there are quite a few things to consider. To simplify, we’ve put together a list of what you’ll want to take into account when determining which one is right for you.
Stationary VS Mobile
In the case of desktop vaporizers, which are also known as plugins due to the fact that they must be plugged into an electrical outlet in order to function, the range is generally limited and often a flat surface necessary. While it is possible to plug a desktop model into a portable battery, their generally large size makes doing so somewhat cumbersome and perhaps more of a hassle than you care to deal with.
With portable vaporizers, your ability to travel is virtually unlimited, as there’s no cords to restrain you. However, there is the limitation of the power source, which is generally a battery these days. Although, we have seen a number of non-battery powered portables, such as the Iolite vapes, which are powered by butane. But this limitation is overcome to a degree by vaporizers that allow for their batteries to be swapped by their users. In such scenarios, the only real limitation is whether you have enough batteries on hand, which is why we suggest picking up a spare battery or two for any battery powered portable vaporizer that allows for the battery to be quickly replaced by the user.
If you spend a significant amount of time out and about or in a vehicle, there’s a good chance that a portable vaporizer is a good fit for your lifestyle. But if you spend a solid amount of time indoors and find that the bulk of your vaping is done inside, then you may want to consider a desktop vaporizer.
Which Is Better?
Generally speaking, desktop vaporizers are more powerful than their portable counterparts. Also, you’re not going to find a portable that fills balloons with vapor like a Volcano Vaporizer does, at least not yet. We’ve also yet to see a portable with a remote control like the Arizer Extreme Q’s remote. But on the other hand, neither of the aforementioned desktop vaporizers fit in your pocket, which is perhaps why a portable might make more sense for you.
Ultimately the decision is yours and there is no wrong answer from our perspective so long as it’s a good fit for you. If you have any questions, be sure to contact us!
